Bridge Farm
Residents: Tony, Pat [nee Lewis], Helen & Tom Archer

Bridge Farm, part of Borchester Land’s Estate, is a tenant farm of 140 acres that is primarily dairy and mixed arable. Tony and Pat Archer took over the tenancy in 1977 upon the death of former tenant Jim Elliot. In 1984, Bridge Farm began farming organically. A year later, they were awarded the Soil Association symbol for their produce.

There is a dairy where Pat, Clarrie Grundy and [FRP] Colin Kennedy produce cream, yoghurt and ice cream and where Helen produces her Borsetshire Blue cheese. Vegetables grown on the farm can be bought at their shop, Ambridge Organics, Borchester or by their ‘Veg Box’ scheme, distributed by Mike Tucker, village milkman.

Eldest son, John Archer, was killed in one of their farm fields while on a tractor that overturned in February1998.
